Having a stroke

A lot have been happening in my life since I've been here, and all at once. One of those things is, my mom had a massive stroke last week that affected the right side of her body. It was very scary. She is now in the ICU. Her prognosis does not look too good. She cannot walk, talk nor even swallow. She is sleeping most of the time. She does open her eyes once in a while. She has movement in her left arm and leg.

4,000 jobs available right now

I was doing a little internet browsing and found this Youtube video www.youtube.com/watch?v=lM7opmmSEa8 about working from home. Is this for real? Imaging working from home, not having to endure hours of commuting. How convenient. This one looks legit. It's MSNBC - Today's Money and it's working for the IRS. Did you say IRS? Ooops, this is only in the US.

There are so many sites and videos on the internet about making money working from home, you have to be very careful. A lot of them are scams! With so many people without a job right now, this is the time scam artists tend to prey upon people like us. If they cannot tell me on their videos or websites what the job entails, I don't waste my time to register, because most likely they will use my information for their benefit. I would not pay a penny for a job. Not even if it's a $1 or $2 for shipping and handling for a book or kit.

Be aware!

Where one or two are gathered in my name...

I did not make it to church today although I had planned to go. I woke up this morning with the same annoying pain in my back, right hip and knee that I've had for the past couple of weeks. It was so bad last week that I had to go to the pharmacy to get some medication for it. It was more of a spasm. The Robaxisal that I got seemed to have helped somewhat, until it started again this morning. I don't like taking medication for too long unless it's absolutely necessary.

Therefore I decided to have my own little service in my home, minus the congregation, just me and my mom. "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them" - Matthew 18:10.

We listened to some gospel DVDs as we sang along. We also listened to a sermon on the 10th commandment. "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbour's." - Exodus 20:17. It's a DVD that a friend had given to me on the Ten Commandments series that was held in Chicago. Even though I enjoyed the preaching and singing, it's never the same like going to church.

It's a beautiful day outside. A bit breezy but lots of sunshine. I wanted to take a drive down to the lake with my mom, but knowing my mom, the weather has to be perfect for her to go. It's difficult getting her to go anywhere.

A friend later phoned me and asked if I had gone to the camp meeting in the West end. I had forgotten everything about it. I didn't feel that bad after all because I am sure the church was almost empty since a lot of people had gone to the camp meeting.

I always associate camp meeting with tent and outdoor. I don't know why they would now have it in a hotel. It's just not the same. I used to enjoy camp meetings when it was held in Oshawa under a very large tent. At lunch time most families would set up their own little pic-nic area under the trees and have lunch there. Some would have lunch at friends' homes. Some in their vehicles. After lunch, some would even fall asleep under the trees. By the time the afternoon program is ready to begin, everyone's appetite is satisfied and they are relaxed.

I don't know if the conference would ever have it here in the East end like they used to every year for the past number of years. When I moved to this area three years ago, I thought I would be closer to the camp meeting site. But now that they've moved it in the West end, it's even farther from me. I definitely won't be attending.

It was a beautiful Sabbath day!
