There are many reasons people drink alcohol. Curiosity is still a prevalent reason for alcohol consumption by young people. We are constantly bombarded with messages promoting alcohol use. Another reason for alcohol consumption is stress reduction, which really does not get rid of the stress itself. All it does is it helps the person to forget about the stress for a while. Everyone of us experiences stress in our lives, but not everyone of us use alcohol as an escape from our stress. I do believe those who do are weak and do not have stamina.
I passed by a liquor store some time ago and noticed behind the glass window bottles of various brands of wine and rum decorated with flowers. I tried to see the connection between both, but could not. All I saw was a display of psychology.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10--"Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolators, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, not covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God."
Proverbs 20:1--"Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging, and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise." A person who becomes drunk is a fool. He may think the wine is doing something good for him, but it is mocking in every way.
